2005 Appalachian Corridors Juried Biennial Exhibition
September 9 — November 13, 2005
This juried exhibition focuses on the thirteen–state Appalachian region celebrating the diversity of art produced by artists residing in a 406–county area stretching from New York to Mississippi. Since Charleston is the geographic center Appalachia, and the capital city of West Virginia, as well as the only state that lies completely within the Appalachian region, it is fitting that the Museum take the lead in presenting this much anticipated juried exhibition. Juried this year by Faith Ringgold the exhibition will contain traditional and non traditional art — from painting, to contemporary craft to multimedia installation to video to electronic art. The exhibition signifies the Museum’s commitment to showcase and recognize emerging and established artists of this region. It provides a meeting ground where artists and visitors can exchange ideas, discover new work, consolidate reputations and recognize new talent. -
